Why you pay tolls

The Dutch government couldn't allocate enough funds for the construction of this road. However, the road could still be built because road users will pay toll for each trip, covering a portion of the construction costs. The new connection improves accessibility in the Rotterdam region and boosts the economy. You always have the option to choose an alternative route without tolls.

Want to get more quickly from the A15 near Rozenburg to the A20 near Vlaardingen, or vice versa?
You can do so via the A24/Blankenburg Connection.
This new route aims to enhance the accessibility of the Rotterdam region and stimulate the economy.
With the opening of the A24/Blankenburg Connection, a new toll collection system will be introduced in the Netherlands: e-TOL.
In other words: toll without having to stop.
Why are tolls actually necessary?
The Rijnmond region was keen to have the connection because the roads there are very busy.
The government couldn't release enough funds for this construction.
The road could be built anyway because road users will pay toll for each journey.
These tolls cover part of the construction costs.
The toll will stop once the road has been paid off.
Don't want to pay a toll? You don’t have to.
You can always opt to use the existing roads, such as de Beneluxtunnel and de Van Brienenoordbrug.
